About Us

Texas Tactical is committed to the continuing education of Law Enforcement Officers. It is our belief that all officers need to be equipped with the tactical skills necessary to work effectively and safely for themselves, their department, and their community.

Owner/Chief Instructor - Tommy Taylor
Tommy Taylor has approximately 20 years of military and civilian law enforcement experience. From 1987 to 1991, he served in the U.S. Army assigned to the 3/504 Airborne Parachute Infantry Regiment. After leaving the armed forces in 1991, Taylor pursued a career in civilian law enforcement. Taylor holds an Advanced Peace Officers license with more than 2,000 training hours. He is a TCLEOSE Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, and Less Lethal Shotgun Specialist. He has many specialty certifications to include, Motorcycle Officer, ROPES Facilitator, Rappel Master, Observer/Counter Sniper (US DOJ FBI), and Marine Safety Enforcement Officer. Taylor’s involvement with S.W.A.T. began in 1992 when he co-founded the Windcrest, TX SWAT team. Taylor retired in November 2007 from the City of Weatherford Police Department where he served as a patrol officer and team leader of the Weatherford/Parker County Special Operations Group. Taylor founded Texas Tactical in 1997 and continues to offer specialized tactical training to military and law enforcement personnel.

Charles H. Pitman, LtGen., USMC (Retired).  Pitman retired from the Marine Corps in 1990 having served for 38 years, flying more than 12,000 hours in fighter, attack and reconnaissance aircraft and helicopters. His first SWAT operation was in 1973, when he flew a Marine helicopter over New Orleans in support of police, killing a sniper on the roof of the Howard Johnson’s Hotel. Since 1987 he has been involved in the training of Marine Corps Special Forces units. In 1996, he attended the Fairfax County Police Academy and became a Reserve Police Officer in Alexandria, VA. More recently, he has been training Marine Corps units going to Afghanistan and Iraq in counter-insurgency and convoy operations.
